About

Hi, I'm John.

I'm an off-page SEO specialist and co-founder of KQ Digital. I work on the part of search that is hardest to fake: authority.

That means link building, referring-domain growth, directory and citation work, and the editorial outreach that earns the links other people pay for. Most of this portfolio is client work, delivered as solo engagements under a UK-based SEO consultant and as resource-page campaigns for a UK marketing agency, across travel, CBD, jewellery, home retail, and finance.

What I lead with is honesty. Every number here is filtered to what I can defend: engagement windows only, cross-links stripped, low-value links set aside, Domain Rating marked approximate, and the lanes that did not win called out. I would rather show a smaller number I can prove than a bigger one I can't.

Before I prospect a link, I audit the backlink profile and run competitor gap analysis to see what is already lifting the sites ahead, then earn the same and more. I work across Ahrefs and Semrush, brief the content those links point to when a project needs it, and build the durable version of SEO: no link farms, no shortcuts that unravel after the next update.

In numbers

The work, honestly counted.

Referring domains
140+
earned across client engagements
Agency output
10 to 15
editorial links / month, 16 months
Placement caliber
DR 36 to 89
sampled, zero paid links
Reporting
Defensible
windowed, deduped, DR-vetted

The referring-domain figure is a conservative floor: the 93 I can show exports for, plus other client work under NDA. I'd rather under-count than inflate.

How I work

Audit first, then earn, then prove it.

01 · Audit & analysis

Find where the authority gap is

Vet the site and audit its backlink profile for gaps and toxic patterns. Then run competitor backlink and keyword gap analysis to see exactly what's lifting the sites already outranking the client, and study their keywords and pages against it. This is the part that decides where to aim before a single email goes out.

02 · Strategy

Reverse-engineer the plan

Turn the gaps into a plan: the linkable assets worth building, the internal linking, and any easy-win keywords worth layering in. Set the client's required Domain Rating floor so every prospect is measured against it from the start.

03 · Execution

Prospect, QA, outreach

Build the prospect list against that floor, QA it, run outreach, and negotiate where a project has a link budget. Keep clean data on every placement so the reporting is accurate and nothing is double-counted.

04 · Reporting

Show what actually moved

Weekly and monthly: what got done, what landed, and how the metrics moved, referring domains, Domain Rating, and rankings. Honest about what worked and what didn't, so the next month's plan is built on real signal.
